(St. Louis Business Journal) Local researchers snag federal grant to tackle U.S. ag industry’s $45M headache

An agricultural research project that includes scientists from the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and Washington University has snagged a $2.6 million federal grant from the  National Science Foundation.  Funding will support research aimed at mitigating an invasive and costly weed that imitates rice. So-called “weedy rice” is a major headache for the U.S. agriculture and is estimated to cost the industry more than $45 million annually. Read More
