📅 Save the Date: August 21st at the Missouri Botanical Garden

This isn’t your typical family reunion — unless your family is sequencing chloroplast genomes or launching a startup. 39 North is bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, academics, students, and curious minds from every corner of the Greater St. Louis and bi-state plant science scene for one big, joyful mashup. It’s a chance to get out of your silo, swap stories with old colleagues, discover unexpected collaborators, and remember why this region is a global leader in agtech innovation.

Come for the science. Stay for the serendipity. And don’t worry — we’ll skip grandma’s potato salad in favor of catering.

Why a Family Reunion?

Because we’re all a family of scientists and innovators in this region! Whether you’re part of a company, a university, a nonprofit, an investment group, or an economic development organization—we’re all working toward the same goal. And just like any good family reunion, this is our chance to reconnect, reminisce, share some meals, and get excited about what’s next.

What’s on the Agenda?

  • 🌱 Inspiring Science Talks: A balanced mixture of big picture narratives and hard hitting science – hear from brilliant minds who are shaping the future of agtech and plant science. We’re also giving the spotlight to emerging talent entering the job market—you might just meet your next rising star.
  • 📣 Resource Fair: Explore a showcase of companies, services, regional nonprofits, and investment opportunities that are fueling innovation in the region.
  • 🤝 Unforgettable Networking: Catch up with old friends, make new connections, and swap ideas with fellow scientists and innovators from every corner of the ecosystem.
  • 🎉 Celebrate Our Wins: Reflect on how far we’ve come as a region and get pumped for what’s ahead.

Location?

We’re hosting it all at the Missouri Botanical Garden—one of the most beautiful, inspiring places in St. Louis! And to cap it off, we’re throwing a laid-back happy hour in the Garden so you can sip, stroll, and savor the moment with your STL plant science family.

Program Committee?

To make sure that we are representing the community at large, we have organized a Program Committee to help make the content informative and in-line with the trends. Phil Taylor (Bayer) has agreed to Chair this group, with scientists from academic institutions and agtech startups rounding out the committee.
